How do you write fiction?

Share

My first try at fiction writing was a few years after I retired from being a Counselor/Therapist. I had already been published in my academic field both through articles and a textbook.

Throughout my youth I had written many poems. Never in a million years did I think about writing a book that was fictional.

One day with pen in hand and popping chocolate kisses into my mouth I started writing. No outline. No thought of publishing. I just wrote. By the seat of my pants.

For kicks and giggles, I sent my manuscript to one of my sisters. She said it was too good to shelf. She encouraged me to at least self publish.

This first book, Emma Beware a YA Suspense novel ended up being number one on Amazon for a few months. Later I wrote Book Two and have finished writing Book Three.

I learned to just go for it. Start with one word at a time. You will be surprised what develops out of your imagination. Enjoy the writing journey.
